Report Suspicious Debit Card Activity

Having concerns about a merchant charge to your debit card account?

If you've seen a charge you don't recognize and think it may be fraud, here is a quick way to resolve your concerns:

  1. Review the details of the charge
    • Review the transaction details on your account such as the merchant's name, phone number and your past activity with that merchant

  2. Contact the merchant
    • We recommend reviewing suspicious charges with the merchant first, as they can often quickly clarify or resolve issues that may simply be due to confusing names, forgotten subscriptions, or family purchases. Keep a record of your contact and share any update with the Bank of Commerce Card Services Department.

  3. Contact Bank of Commerce Card Services Department
    • Please contact us to make us aware of the transactions that are in question

Fraudulent Charge VS. Charge Error

Fraudulent: A transaction you (or anyone authorized on your account) did not authorize, such as:
  • Transactions resulting from a lost, stolen, or compromised card, account takeover or identity theft.

    You have also confirmed:
  • You have not authorized anyone else to use your card

  • You have reviewed the transaction details keeping in mind some merchants use a different name or address for billing purposes and still don’t recognize it
Charge Error: A transaction you authorized but had an issue with, such as:
  • A recurring transaction or trial subscription you cancelled
  • A refund or credit not received
  • A charge higher than the amount on your receipt
  • Goods or services not received or not as expected
  • A charge that you paid for by cash or a different card
  • Charged more than once for the same transaction
